About ABA Therapy
ABA therapy uses scientific teaching methods to help children behave and act independently. Children who are autistic, have mental disabilities, or have behavioral disabilities may sometimes need expert therapist to help them communicate and behave appropriately. Through ABA therapy, your child can learn fundamental skills to communicate, play with other children, and be independent.
“Our son cried the first time we left him there for therapy as he didn’t want to leave me. The second day, he let go of my hand and went back with the therapist without hesitation. That’s when I knew he enjoyed going. We can’t be happier with his progress.”
– Sandra Calhoun
ABA Teaching Methods
All of our therapist use two popular teaching methods to help each child; however, all of our children have a unique and specialized program tailored to their needs. With our two teaching methods combined with a specific plan for his or her needs, your child can get hands-on learning experiences which will help him/her in everyday life.
Discrete Trial Instruction (DTI)
DTI is the one of the proven teaching methods we use in our Tampa office. The DTI method mimics structured environments your child often experiences in real life at school, church, appointments, etc. Children and our therapists work together to complete small tasks that will help the children excel and behave appropriately in these environments. Whether it’s raising a hand in a classroom, forming questions through speech or sign language, or something else, it focuses on enhancing and building targeted skills.
Natural Environment Teaching (NET)
In NET, we help children learn by using items that motivate them. NET takes place in a comfortable environment, and our therapist may use favorite dolls or toys in the process. This method combines learning with playing while using positive reinforcements to congratulate good behavior.
