Since 2003, Behavior Analysis Support Services (BASS) has channeled its passion to serve the needs of children and their families. Five years later, the Florida State Senate passed a bill recognizing the need to increase coverage for the treatment of autism spectrum disorder, and to date, 43 states – plus the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands – have enacted similar laws.

BASS knows the importance of great treatment and delivers it through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. Through our team and ABA therapy, we can help your child learn and grow.

Why ABA Therapy

ABA therapy increases independence and productivity by using evidence-based practices to address different behavioral needs. This method of therapy stands out among others because it is actually supported by empirical research findings. It’s based on years of research.

ABA therapy makes sense. Positive behavior earns positive reinforcements. Our therapists look at your child and their individual needs to create a specific plan of action.

Great success takes time, so the earlier you start with ABA therapy, the better. Currently, most of our children are between the ages of 18 months and 13 years.

Our therapy is one-on-one so that your child always has our full attention. We use the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) to identify your child’s behavioral strengths. After the assessment and behavior observation, we sit down with the family to make plans for the next step. You are an important part of the process.

Our ABA Therapy

BASS uses a combination of two methods known as Discrete Trial Instruction (DTI) and Natural Environment Teaching (NET). The methods are considered two of the most effective ways to teach.

In DTI, we use a structured environment to mimic the structured environment your child often experiences in real life at school, church, appointments, etc. Children and our therapists work together to complete small tasks that will help the children excel in structured environments. Whether it’s raising a hand in a classroom, forming questions through speech or sign language, or something else, it focuses on enhancing and building targeted skills.

In NET, we help children learn by using items that motivate them. NET takes place in a comfortable environment, and our therapist may use favorite dolls or toys in the process. This method combines learning with playing.
